Throwback Thursday: Can you imagine to sit in a train where you can prevent sun glare and heat intake by the switch of a button?
 
In September 2022 we participated in the Deutsche Bahn Idea train exhibition during the #innotrans2022 together with our colleagues from REHAU.

At REHAU New Ventures we are always exploring ways to enhance lives with digital solutions and smart products. For the DB ideatrain we reimagined the train window of the future. So far mostly simple curtains or blinds offer a solution to prevent sun glare. But what if the window glass itself could be tinted by the switch of a button within few seconds?

The video shows how it would look like and the prototype smart windows were realized with several partners inside the DB ideatrain and shown to the public during the Innotrans 2022 in Berlin.

How to turn 2D floor plans into 3D virtual tours?

As part of our project with Sarona Partners we had identified Vizit.co as the perfect fit for the challenge set out from our venture euerzuhause.

euerzuhause helps you to find your dream house online by suggesting you the perfect floor plans based on your preferences and connects you to Modular Construction companies in a seamless way. Although pictures and floor plans already give a nice impression of your future house the euerzuhause team thought of a virtual tour feature. How nice it would be to virtually explore your future house, interiors and even garden from the coziness of your sofa at home?

This is where Vizit.co, which was successfully scouted by our partner Sarona Partners, came into play. With a high degree of automation Vizit.co created photo-realistic 3D tours just from 2D floor plans.

Have a look at the results from three different house types yourself (see link in the comments). In different online campaigns this PoC (Proof-of-Concept) turned out to be very successful.

Now the euerzuhause team around Irina Schwentner is exploring ways to integrate this feature into the current version of the euerzuhause platform and to enhance the experience for the end customers.

Irina Schwentner summarizes the successful PoC with Vizit.co as follows: "We tried the virtual tours for several properties and the results were very promising. The virtual environment obviously sparked enough joy and curiosity to spend an average of 4 minutes in it. Some customers used the tours repeatedly. We consider virtual tours an attractive B2C feature and conclude that they can be a valuable driver for customer retention."
